House Rules for Unisystem
| Places of Power and Ambient Essence | ||
| Ley Lines | ||
| Ley lines, aka dragon lines, are channels of increased Essence. The exact nature of their geometry isn’t fully known; they usually run straight for tens or even thousands of miles, then suddenly end, only to begin again in another location and possibly in a different alignment. Major ley lines tend to run more consistently and may span continents, while most minor lines disappear after less than a hundred miles. | ||
| Minor ley lines appear to the Gifted as a faint golden glowing strip, perhaps four feet wide. Major ley lines are brighter, and average around eight feet. | ||
| Lines frequently cross, creating a synergistic effect where more Essence is found pooling at the junction of two or more ley lines. Strange or mystical effects are common at these points. | ||
| Single Line | 2-Line Intersection | 3-Line Intersection |
|
Major: 10 |
2 Minor: 12 | 1 Major, 1 Minor: 18 |
| Minor: 5 | 2 Major: 24 | 1 Major, 2 Minor: 26 |
| 1 Major, 1 Minor: 18 | 2 Major, 1 Minor: 33 | |
| 3 Minor: 20 | ||
| 3 Major: 39 | ||
| [System Note: To figure junction Essence, multiply the total Essence from the leys by (.1 * the number of leys) and add it to the original total. So, (1 Major (10) + 2 Minor (2x5)) x .3) = 6; 20+6= 26] | ||
| Using the Essence along a ley line drains the useable power for ½ mile in either direction. Draining a conjunction point likewise drains both the point and all of the associated lines for ½ mile in any direction. The Essence is restored at the rate of 1 per 2 hours (for Junctions, 1 per ley line per 2 hours). | ||
| Times of Power and Numbers stack as usual. So, 13 witches standing on a conjunction of 2 Major ley lines at midnight on Beltaine have 192 Essence to play with! | ||
| When standing on a ley line, the use of magic farther along the line can be sensed with a +2 (minor) or +4 (major) bonus; in addition, Essence summoning can be sensed at the rate of ½ mile per 10 Essence rather than the usual 20 Essence. | ||
| Ley lines can be sensed with a Simple Perception roll, +1 for a major line. | ||
| Combat | ||
| Attack Damage | ||
| “Bashing” damage (punches, blunt objects) do the listed damage as Endurance; in addition, ¼ of the listed damage also is removed from Life Points. e.g.: An punch does 8 points of damage; this results is a loss of 8 Endurance and 2 Life Points. | ||
| Armor | ||
| Provisional House Rule: Half the listed value of armor is eliminated; the other half is converted to Endurance damage. | ||
